Teak
Wood type
Teak is a tropical hardwood species native to Southeast Asia and is in durability class 1.
Known for its excellent properties and beautiful colour, it is a hugely popular wood species. It can be used in many applications, such as garden furniture, e.g. garden benches and tables, parquet, cladding or decking.
Its popularity and scarcity do make authentic teak quite pricey. It is a scarce commodity because high-quality teak comes from a tree that is 70 to 90 years old and therefore not easily planted. Plantation teak is therefore a cheaper alternative and your teak wood will usually come from a plantation.
