Rubberwood
Wood type
Rubberwood is a type of wood that comes from the rubber tree and is also known as hevea brasiliensis. This tree is hugely ecological as it is used for multiple purposes. The rubberwood tree is first used for its production of natural latex and then people use the tree for its wood.
Recovering the wood from tapped trees and planting new young trees guarantee sustainable forest management. This also keeps the price relatively stable compared to other types of wood. Despite these advantages, rubberwood of course also has its drawbacks. Namely, it is in durability class 5 and is therefore not really sustainable. Rubberwood is therefore only used for interior applications, such as stairs, worktops, wall panels and parquet. But it does add a lot of warmth to your interior with its beautiful white-yellow-cream colour. Moreover, it is easy to work with and very stable.
