Padouk
Wood type
Padouk wood, also written padouk or padauk, is an African tropical hardwood species with a magnificent orange-brown colour.
This wood species is in durability class 1, making it one of the most durable woods in the world. Padouk does owe its popularity not only to its durability, but it also has very little action. Padouk wood will not rot or crack over time. Moreover, after exposure to natural conditions it discolours to a beautiful even silver-grey and retains its beautiful grain structure after this discolouration. However, the paduk tree is not found in forests but is more likely to be found standing alone. That, combined with its excellent properties and high durability, ensure that the price of padauk wood is nevertheless significantly higher than other types of wood.
Denderwood has a very wide range of padauk products and can offer these products with FSC and PEFC certificates. Ask one of our sales staff about this.
