Iroko
Wood type
Iroko wood is one of the most popular hardwoods on the market. It owes this mainly to its similarities to teak and padouk and its otherwise excellent properties.
It is sometimes also called African teak, iroko teak or kambala teak. This is because Iroko is in durability class 1-2, making it enormously durable. But colour also plays a role, a very big one at that. After all, the colour determines the quality of the hardwood. Thus iroko is available in different colours, ranging from yellow to light brown. The darker the colour, the more durable the wood is. Moreover, iroko also has a very beautiful structure which makes it popular in many applications. For instance, iroko is often found in facade cladding, in the form of planking, but also in gates or beams.
