Gombé
Wood type
Gombé is a relatively unknown African tropical hardwood species, originating in West Africa. It is also sometimes sold under the trade name 'bondu'.
It is in durability class 4 and has an orange-yellow colour. The structure of gombé is somewhat similar to meranti. It can give off an odour when freshly sawn. Thanks to its dark stripe pattern, the wood is good for decorative applications, but because it is still so unknown, gombé is currently only used for window production. Of course, gombé will be further discovered in the future and will probably be used for other purposes.
