Durian
Wood type
Durian wood is a tropical hardwood species native to Southeast Asia.
This hardwood is supplied by a large number of tree species and can therefore vary quite a bit in colour. Indeed, it can range from pink-brown to orange-brown. Freshly sawn, durian wood has an unpleasant smell. The wood itself is mainly used for light interior construction work due to its limited durability.
The durian tree is also used to produce the durian fruit. This green prickly fruit is also called stink fruit, due to its pungent smell, and tastes like slightly fermenting banana.
